Global Shortage of Fresh Water

要求:

1. 人们以为淡水是取之不尽的(提示:雨水、河水、井水……)。Most of people think that the racecourse of getting fresh water is inexhaustible. 2. 实际上淡水是非常紧缺的(提示:人口增加、工业用水增加、污染……)。In fact, fresh water is in short supply in lots of places in the world...

3. 我们应该怎么办。We shall lose no time in solving this serious problem...

范文1:

It is widely believed that fresh water will never be used up because we can get it from rain, rivers and wells. As a matter of fact, such belief is wrong and possibly dangerous.

Scientists have revealed that despite the fact that the 70% of the earth's surface is covered with water, a little part of it is fresh water. Ninety percent of fresh water is stored in the Antarctic zone and cannot be directly used.

Fresh water is used to feed people and propel machines. With the increasing number of the population and factories, the amount of fresh water in use is also growing rapidly. It is estimated that if such growth is not controlled, the fresh water will be used up by the next century. Another dangerous factor is that the water pollution including industrial wastes and poisonous gases which eventually blacken rivers and form acid rains.

We still have time if we act just now. We must tell all the others the importance of fresh water and the danger we are facing. We can control the number of factories and the wastes they produce. We can also develop new ways to use our limited fresh water more econometrically.

范文2:

People usually think that fresh water is inexhaustible. They hold this opinion because they can see water everywhere, rainwater, water in the river or the lake and they can get water as soon as they turn on the tap.

Actually, there is a serious shortage of fresh water. Fresh water is not only needed in people's daily life but also in industry and agriculture. Fresh water shortage is made more serious by pollution and population expansion, to say nothing of the fact that the Yellow River is drying up.

Many ways can contribute to solving this serious problem, but the following ones may be most effective. First, everyone should be advised to economize fresh water. Besides, measures should be taken to prevent water pollution. Finally, we should exploit fresh water resources by making use of underground water, dashing seawater, and even purifying water already polluted.

These are not the best and the only three measures we can take. But it should be noted that we should take strong actions to protect fresh water resources.

范文3:

People can't imagine life without water. Without water, the earth we live on would be a dead one. There would be no trees, no crops, no animals and no people. So water is considered to be next to oxygen in importance.

Although nearly three quarters of the earth's surface is covered with water, it is sea water and undrinkable. The demand for water is increasing, while water resources are scarce. Agricultural production needs enormous amounts of water, so does industry. Besides, the rapid growth of population makes it more and more difficult for people to survive because of the water shortage. So water shortage has become one of the most serious problems.

Fortunately, people have realized this pressing problem and are trying to find ways to salve it. First, people are urged to economize on water. Second, measures are taken to protect water resources. Third, circulating water is used for industrial purposes over and over in factories and treated sewage water is used for irrigation in farming land.
