Passage B
What is exactly a lie? Is it anything we know is untrue? Or is it something more than that? For example, suppose a friend wants to borrow some money from you, you say“I wish I could help you but I’m short of money myself. ” In fact, you are not short of money but your friend is in the habit of not paying his debts and you don’t want to hurt his feelings by reminding him of this. Is this really a lie?
A scientific study of lying shows women are better liars than men, particularly when telling a white lie, such as when a woman at a party tells another woman that she likes her dress when she really thinks it looks terrible. However, this is only one side of the story. Other researches show that men are more likely to tell more serious lies, such as making a promise which they have no intention of fulfilling. This is the kind of lies politicians and businessmen are supposed to be particularly skilled at:the lies from which the liar hopes to profit or gain in some way.
Research has also been done into the way people’s behavior changes in a number of small, apparently unimportant ways when they lie. It has been found that if they are sitting down at the same time, they tend to move about in their chairs more than usual. To the trained observer they are saying “I wish I were somewhere else now”. 47.This passage tells us that_______.

A.a lie that is told with a good will B.a lie that completely unbelievable C.a lie that is always believable D.a lie that often has an evil purpose 50.Politicians and businessmen are supposed to be skilled at telling the kind of lies______.
A.from which they may gain some advantage B.that seem to be unbelievable C.that women are most likely to believe
D.with which they can have better relationship with others 51.It can be concluded from the last paragraph that ______.
A.there is a simple way of finding out if someone is lying B.from some ways people behave we can know they are lying C.certain gestures are proof of lying only 9if they are repeated
D.in some situations women are most likely to think businessmen are dishonest
Passage C Just a couple hours ago, I was on the plane, ready to fly home from London. The flight had been put off by A few hours, so it felt good to be so close to take-off. I had my iPad in place and a new book to read. Then over the loudspeaker came the pilot’s voice:“We are sorry to tell you we must cancel this flight because there is still something wrong with the plane.”
The passages’ reactions that announcement led to were interesting. One man close to me began to argue with us and air hostess. A couple in another row complained loudly. A businessman in the black suit even kicked the seat in front of him. Yet some passengers acted differently. An elderly gentleman smiled as he helped others take their bags down from the shelf. A teenager, rather than trying to rush off of the plane like most of the other passengers, stopped to help a woman with disability. The lady sitting next to me laughed and said:“Hey, it’s not the end of the word,”before she made a call to her kids and shared her adventure with them.
No life is the perfect; mine certainly isn’t . We all must face something unexpected, both large and small. You and I have the power to choose to rise above the external circumstances(外部环境).We always have the choice to be strong and the cart kind when we are in trouble.
My seatmate was right---things didn’t get that terrible. Anyway, I’m safe. I have my health. I have two wonderful children. I have work and so much to be grateful for. Sure I now have to wait a few hours to catch the next flight home.
52.What caused the passengers different reactions?
A. The loudspeaker. B. The air hostess.
C. The plane’s problem. D.The pilot’s announcement. 53.Who turned his anger to the seat?
A. A teenager helping the disabled. B.An old man taking bags down.
C. A man in a black suit. D.A man close to the writer. 54.The woman sitting next to the writer______.
A.complained loudly B.make a phone call to her family C.helped others carry their bags D.told moving stories to her children 55.From the passage, we know that____.
A.the plane took off finally B. the flight was put off by a few hours C. The flight was canceled D.the plane was seriously damaged 56.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Our life is full of ups and downs. B.It is natural to be scared and angry in trouble.
C.We should help each other. D. Keep calm and hopeful when life is hard.

Before you could open your mouth to learn to say something in your first two years on the earth, inner voice helps you understand things. Inner voice always shows thoughts and ideas in the body.
It justifies what is right and what is wrong. When we go against inner voice, we usually feel uncomfortable throughout our lives.
Sometimes when we are feeling sad, we seem to need some kind of support in spirit. We usually speak to our closest friend of our dearest family member during times of unhappiness to feel better. After talking to them, we suddenly feel active again, because our inner voice reminds us to get on with things and leave the things of the past in the memory.
Inner voice is always right most of the time, because it knows us better than others and even ourselves. It is good to go by inner voice most of the time. Whenever you are trying to smoke, or whenever you are asked to decide on one side in an argument, you are always worried about the result. During these times, your inner voice tells you what to do. If you don’t follow your inner voice, you might be unhappy in the future. It is our own choice to either pay no attention to our inner voice of follow it and seek real happiness.
