Tradition Definition

The term ‘tradition’ and ‘modernity’ are expressions of values which helps us in observing the process of social and cultural transformation in societies as they pass from the ‘primitive’ to ‘pre-industrial’ to ‘industrial’ and ‘post-industrial’ phases of social development. Pros Point

1. Peace of Mind: Time has seemed to speed up, distraction is everywhere, and as a whole, modern society has all but lost its ancient connection to its spiritual nature and to the Earth. In light of this, many people are searching to reconnect with the sacred and many have adopted different spiritual paths such as yoga, meditation, First People’s ways, Eastern philosophies, Taoism, Buddhism, and countless others, searching for a sense of peace to this life we all share here together.

2.sense of ritual:Japanese people will say: “itadakimasu!”(我开动了) before having a meal. When asking why they are saying this, they always say that it is a tradition which help them to feel at ease and enjoy the food.

2. guideline:Tradition lays down guidelines for simple and even complex decision making and leaves us free to utilize our time more effectively. Take the complex decision of marriage for example. If there is the tradition of marriage in the same or related clan, then the decision is far easier and acceptable. It’s advantages are well seen in Indian society, where there is a tradition of arranged marriages. This has proved to be more successful than love marriages in the west, with fewer cases of divorces and broken homes. It also has a lot of emotional as well as ornamental value, which is practiced very proudly by our armed forces. Some of these traditions have been passed down from the British army, for example, the pulling of jeep by fellow officers on the retirement of a senior officer, or the ceremonial parade, flag hoisting etc. These are all fine traditions that should be maintained at all costs.

People often think that the familiar is better and that different is bad.

4.Women's social statue:Traditions tell that women should wear Indian dresses; they should treat the husbands as God and so on. People moved on from the old traditions and that’s why women are an equal earning partner in today’s life. 5.Superstitions:Superstitions(迷信) are run under the name of traditions like sneezing before the start of the work can lead to failure of work.

6.Racism:Racism is a kind of tradition followed in many countries. Obama broke the racial barriers to become the first black US president.
