《Unit 10 By the time I got outside, the bus had already left》

导读:说好小对话并不容易,但它也是一段愉快的经历,让我们一起来学习How to Make a Small Talk吧!

Small talk is not something easy, but if you get ready for the talk, it can be a very pleasant experience. Here are 9 steps you can try to follow:

STEP 1: Talk with everyone you meet for the first time: Waiters, people you're standing in line with, neighbors and kids. STEP 2: Read everything: Cookbooks, newspapers, magazines, maps and signs. Everything gives you information that you can talk about with others.

STEP 3: Force (强迫) yourself to get into small talk situations: Doctors' waiting rooms, parties and bus stops. STEP 4: Look for topics about everything: Television, music, sports, fashion and art. If you can't stand hip-hop, that, too, is a good topic for a talk.

STEP 5: Write down things interests you: Funny stories you hear, beautiful things you see, quotes (名人名言), observations(评语), shopping lists and calls you made. STEP 6: Talk to yourself in the mirror: Make a list of any topics and see what you have to say on the subjects. Baseball, Russia, butter, hip-hop, shoes .... The more different, the better. STEP 7: Try something new every day: Go home a new way. Try new food. Go online. Paint a watercolor. Bake a pie. All these give

you active ideas and, more important, an active lifestyle. STEP 8: Be a better listener: Did your co-worker just say she took her vacation in Europe? Did your neighbor just have twins? These are opportunities (机会) for making small talk. STEP 9: Believe in yourself: The more you know, the more you can talk about.
