动词第三人称单数的变化规则与名词复数的变化规则大致相同，主要规则如下：

（1）一般情况下，在词尾加-s，如play-plays。

例如：He plays football in the afternoon.他在下午踢足球。 （2）以s，x，sh，ch结尾的动词，在词尾加-es，如：watch-watches 例如：She watches TV in the evening.她在晚上看电视。

（3）以辅音字母加y结尾的重读闭音节动词，要把y变成i，再加-es，如fly-flies.
