Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark 一、教材内容分析： 本单元是初中英语新教材第三册第四单元，本单元的核心话题为“talk about what they used to be like”，围绕着谈论过去自己和他人过去经常做的事，谈论自己和他人过去的外貌\\性格\\爱好，以观察图片、听力理解、阅读理解等训练方式和独立学习、合作交流、完成任务等形式完成目标语言的输入，学习句型Used to 为主要学习任务，并且设置任务型综合性语言实践活动，让学生在交际活动中，学会如何正确地用英语表达自己的意见和建议，重在培养学生的习得语言运用能力、实践能力、合作能力及创新意识。 二、总体教学目标： 1. 知识目标 A. 学习并掌握下列重点词汇，如airplane, terrify, insect, candy, chew, gum, chat, daily, comic, death, afford, cause, patient, decision, necessary, exactly, attention, waste, in the end, to one’s surprise, no longer, take pride in, give up, pay attention, not …any more. B. 掌握一般过去时的用法及其与一般现在时的区别。 C. 理解并正确运用下列短语：used to do sth , sleep with my bedroom light on , no longer / not …any more. 2.能力目标 A. 能客观公正地审视过去，以使对将来做事进行正确定位。 B. 能根据本单元内容学会综合谈论人的变化。 3. 情感文化目标 A. 培养自己对已发生的事发表主观看法和客观分析的能力。 B. 认识到目前存在的不足，能正确地区别是与非，克服不足，以诚待人，健康向上。 三、教学重点、难点： A. 重点：used to 句型 B. 难点：used to 句型在日常生活中的运用。 四、教学方法：视听法、问答法和情景交际法 五、课时分配： 本单元用七课时；第一课时―――Section A 1a-2c 第二课时―――Section A 3a-3b 第三课时―――Section B 1a-2c 第四课时―――SectionB 3a-3c 第五课时———Reading(1) 第六课时———Reading (2) 第七课时———Reading(3) 课时教学设计 The first period 教学内容 :SectionA 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 2c. 教学目标： 1. 知识目标：掌握词汇：used to, dark be interested in 重点句型：Mario used to be short. Yes, he did. Now, he’s tall! You used to be short, didn’t you? Yes , I did. / No, I didn’t. 2. 能力目标：初步掌握used to do sth 的用法和反意疑问句的用法。 3. 情感目标：通过过去与现在的比较，懂得不能以貌取人的道理。 教学重点与难点： 1. 掌握used to do sth.及其相关的用法。 2. 理解并正确运用shy, serious, friendly, outgoing 等表示性格特征的形容词。 3. 一般过去时及其与一般现在时的区别。 三、学情分析 本单元主要内容是让学生学会used to结构。Used to +动词原形表示过去经常、以前常常，只用于过去式中，用来表示现在已不存在的习惯或状态，同时也要求学生学会运用used to 结构，谈论过去，并能把自己的过去和现在的不同进行比较。根据学生特点，采用课堂上竞争比赛问答方式。 四、教学资源准备： tape recorder flashcards 五、教学方法：听说法，合作法。 六、教学过程： 教学步骤 Step1. Revision and lead-in of appearance & personality. T: What does he look like? S1: He is smart. S2: He has short hair. S3: … 2. Review the vocabularies of appearance and personality. 3. Do the brainstorming to remember the vocabularies. Step 2. Fill in the chart(1a) Call Ss’ attention to the chart with the headlines. individually. Step 3. Game Ss guess, who is he / she with the words describing people. A: Who is he? B: He is Harry Potter. Step 4. Presentation Ss look at two different pictures to learn the phrases “used to”. He was short when he was a child, but he is tall now. = He used to be short, but now he is tall. Step 5. Make sentences Look at some different pictures and talk about them. He / She used to be / have / wear …, but now he / she is / has / wears …. Step 6. Listening (1b. 2a. 2b) 1.Ss work on 1b to do the listening. 2.Then listen & repeat 3. Then Ss do the pairwork A: Hi, are you…? B: Yeah. I’m … I haven’t seen you for years. A: Did you use to be / have / wear … ? B: Yes, I did . / No, I didn’t. A: You used to be / have/ wear …, didn’t you? B: Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t. 建议和说明 1. Look at a photo of a child talk about him, to review the vocabularies 从一幅可爱的图片导入，充分发挥学生的记忆力，复习初一学过的关于外貌和性格的词汇。 通过brainstorming 进一步巩固所复习的词汇。 填写表格，自主完成。 猜谜游戏增加学生的学习兴趣。 通过两幅图片的对比，很自然地引出目标语“used to”的用法。 该步骤充分锻炼学生的口头能力，并在说的过程中进一步体会一般过去时与一般现在时的区别。 完成听力的基础上，跟读非常重要，锻炼学生的口语。 并且根据听力材料，学生进行模拟表演，落实Then ask them to fill in the chart with words describing people 4.
