Let students read the English poem, what’s the same pattern of each sentence, can you use this sentence to make a sentence?

If I had my life to live over, Iwould have talked less and listened more Iwould have invited my friend over to dinner even if the carpet was strained and the sofa faded

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his

youth…

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up in the summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pinked candle sculpted like a rose before it melted into storage

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about the grass strains

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television---and more while watching life

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I were not there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical would not show soil or was guaranteed to last life time. there would have been more “I love you”…… more “I am sorry”……but mostly ,given another shorts at life ,I would seize every minute…look at it and really see it ……live it ……and never give it back.

T: The sentences just use the subjunctive mood. The subjunctive mood is used to express a wish, request, recommendation or command. Also the subjunctive mood is used to express something that is contrary to the fact.

Give students some examples to present the subjunctive mood then show them the structure.

If I were you, I would try my best to learn English. If I had seen him, I would have talked the truth.

If I were admitted by BeijingUniversity, I would try my best to study the major.

If I were you, I would go and attend his party.

It is demanded that we should get everything ready by tonight. It’s time that we began the meeting. Present Past Conditional clause If S did/were If S had done Subjective clause S could/would /might/should do S could/would /might/shouldhave done Future If S did/should /were to Scould/would /might/should do 虚拟条件句的特殊用法

If you had earned enough money, you would live a happy life in the future.

If you had followed my advice, you would be able to finish the work now.

If I were you, I would have gone to her birthday party.

If you hadn’t lent me some money, I couldn’t have bought the new house and most likely I would be still living in the dangerous house now.
