More than 16 per cent of Chinese middle school students have emotional problems caused by stress of too man exams. They feel nervous and worried from time to time. They fear they can’t reach their parents’ expectations (期望)。An unhappy family life can also lead to depression (抑郁).

According to a study of 2,961 middle school students, students who have problems can be divided into two groups：students in their first and second year of secondary schools and those in their last year at high schools. The result also shows that emotional problems increase as students get older.
