In conclusion, while mobile phones subscriptions, if used carelessly or without restraint, could prove to be a double-edged sword, the fact remains that it is already extremely prevalent in both developing and developed countries, and even today continue to rise in popularity.

3）假如人们多动脑、谨慎些、具有判断力，我确信大多数人都能克服手机入网的弊端，并且利用其优势。

If people could imbue themselves with intelligence, prudence and discretion, I am sure that most of them would be able to sidestep the potential drawbacks of mobile phones while taking advantage of all the merits.

4）作为一名大学生，我每天上网与他人在 BBS 上讨论新闻，通过注册网络课程来学习英语，借助 MSN 和我的朋友们免费聊天。

As a college student, I get on line every day to discuss news with other people on BBS, to study English by registering for web courses, and to chat freely through MSN Messenger.

After all, Internet is invented to connect you and me, and to bring conveniences to our life rather than setting barriers to keep people beyond reach.

3、文化交流：

1）神秘的中国文化吸引了各国人民这一事实表明，在某种程度上一种文化可以在国际范围内被接受、尊重、欣赏和分享。

The fact that people from different countries are attracted to mysterious Chinese culture indicates that to some extent a culture can be accepted, respected, appreciated and shared internationally. 2）由于全球化潮流不可阻挡，所以日益频繁的文化交流可以有效增进相互间的理解和友谊。 Since the trend of globalization has become irresistible, increasing cultural exchanges can effectively improve mutual understanding and friendship between countries.

3）同时，我们很有必要推广世界文化，因为来自其他文化的观点，即使乍看起来相互矛盾甚至很荒谬，但从长远看来，可以为我们观察这个世界提供一种不同的视角。

Meanwhile, there are good reasons to advocate internationalized culture for those ideas from the other cultures, though controversial or even absurd at first sight, can in the long run provide a different perspective for us to observe the world.

4）在我看来，如果人们能为多元文化花费时间的话，那么它就能够长存。这对确保社会将来的繁荣和发展都至关重要。

In my view, multi-cultures can be kept alive by the people with the time to do so, which is vital in ensuring a community’s future development and prosperity.

5）由于成功的商业化努力、政府坚定不移的支持和不断增长的海外兴趣，多元文化的将来 会比过去任何时候都明朗、更安全。

As a consequence of successful commercialization efforts, unwavering government support and growing interest overseas, the future of cultural blending looks brighter and more secure than ever before.

（三）社会热点： 1、旅游

1）在旅行中，我们可以和游客一起，赞叹尼亚加拉瀑布那雷霆万钧之势，和喜洋洋的人群一起穿过巴黎的林荫大道，还可以体验不同时代、不同国土上人们的酸甜苦辣。

In travelling, we may join tourists marveling at the incredible power of Niagara Falls, mingle with the happy throngs strolling in the Paris boulevards and experience the bitterness and joy of people on different lands and in different times.

2）考虑到所有这些因素，我们可以预计：随着校园生活节奏的加快和日益增大的压力，旅游的大学生数量在未来几年将持续增加。

Taking all these factors into consideration, we may predict that with the quickening pace and ever- increasing pressure of campus life, the number of university students touring will keep growing in the forthcoming decade.

3）博物馆吸引着大多数人，从孩子找到老人，各个年龄层的人无不为博物馆着迷，至少有个根本两大原因。

Museums hold an attraction and fascination for most people, of all ages, from young children to the elderly, for at least two fundamental reasons.

4）一国的首都，如北京、伦敦和巴黎，简直就是博物馆爱好者的天堂。

A country’s capital city, like Beijing, London or Paris is a veritable museum lover’s paradise, where one could literally spend days visiting dozens of museums.

In summary, people enjoy visiting museums because doing so helps them to understand the history and culture of the place, be it at a local, regional, national or international level.

2、健康：

1）随着都市生活节奏的加快和压力的不断增加，越来越多的人开始面临生理或心理问题。With the quickening pace and ever-increasing pressure of urban life, people in growing numbers are suffering either physical or mental problems.

2）人们各自选择慢跑、打篮球、游泳、滑冰、爬山或骑车作为日常锻炼方式，因为这些运动总是使他们更强壮和更加精力充沛。

People variously choose jogging, playing basketball, swimming, skating, climbing or riding as their regular exercises because exercises never fails to make them stronger and more energetic. 3）尤其在逆境中，我们需要保持一种乐观的心态来经历人生的痛苦悲伤、迂回曲折。Especially in adversity, we need to maintain an optimistic mentality to pull through life’s pains and sorrows, twists and turns.

4）我保持均衡饮食，而且晚上 11 点之前上床睡觉，因为我相信熬夜对身体有害。 I keep a balanced diet and go to bed before 11 o’clock at night, because I believe burning the midnight oil is harmful to health.

5）因为均衡的饮食和充足的睡眠对于身体健康是不可或缺的，大学生应该充分重视养成良好的习惯。

Since both a balanced diet and sufficient sleep are indispensable for physical fitness, university students should put great emphasis on good habits.

3、两代关系：

1）一旦一直被宠爱的年轻人开始寻求独立并接受来自现实世界的挑战，人们发现他们已经被惯坏了，在困难面前无法足够坚强。

Once the young people who have been doted on begin to seek independence and accept challenges from the real world, they are found too spoiled to be strong enough in the face of difficulties. 2）只有经历更多的挑战和磨练，年轻人才能培养强大的个性和能力，而且只有这样在竞争的世界中他们才能成为赢家。

Only by undergoing more challenges and toils in adversity can young people cultivate strong

personalities and abilities, and only in this way can they become winners in this competitive world. 3）当父母年龄太大不能照顾自己的时候，他们就成了负担，被自己的子女们像足球一样踢来踢去。这是一种令人同情的不公正现象，引起了很多中国人的愤慨。

When they are too old to take care of themselves, the elders become burdens to be kicked around by their sons and daughters like a football, a pitiful and unjust sight that will arouse indignation among many Chinese.

4）作为一个以很多美德闻名于世的国家，中国及中国人民自古以来一直奉行孝道。

As a nation renowned worldwide for many of its virtues, China and the Chinese people have been practicing filial piety throughout history.

5）许多广为传颂的故事反复强调了这种历史悠久的爱老敬老的美德，如西汉的缇萦舍身营救蒙冤父亲免于极刑的故事。

Many much-told stories reiterate this time-honored virtue of loving and respecting the elders, such as the story of Tiying in the West Han Dynasty who risked her life in order to save her wronged father from corporal punishment.

4、社会公德

When we use the word “love”, we do not simply mean an attraction to a person of the opposite sex, which is a very narrow definition of the word.

5）尽管他们的收入按照国际标准衡量还是处于低水平，但是全国人民毫不犹豫地尽他们所能捐献——不管是钱，还是物品——去帮助那些受难的同胞们。

Although their incomes are still low by international standards, people all over the country do not hesitate to donate whatever they can——be it money or goods——to help their needy fellow citizens.

（四）环境保护

1、首先为了满足迅速增长的人口对于空间的需求，对于美国人来说唯一有效的解决办法就是占据森林和草原，而这些地方曾是野生动植物的栖息地。To begin with, to satisfy the space demands for booming population, the only available solution for Americans was to inhabit forests and grasslands that used to be the habitat of wild animals and plants.

2、此外，工业化和城市化的进程造成了严重的污染，在根本上摧毁了环境和生态系统。 In addition, the process of industrialization and urbanization has generated severe pollution that essentially destroys environments and ecosystems.

3、另一方面，旅游业已经对我们生存的环境造成了巨大的压力：水受到污染，生态平衡遭到破坏，自然资源被过度开发。

On the other hand, tourism has exerted great pressure on the environment we are living in: our water is polluted, our ecological system is disturbed, and our natural resources have been excessively used.

4、毫无疑问，由于对那些几乎没有其他收入来源的地区而言，旅游业确实有助于发展经济， 因此任何国家都无法禁止旅游业。

Undoubtedly, tourism could not be banned in any country as it does help to shore up the economy in places which have few sources of income.

5、是时候加强人们的意识，通过多加考虑环境保护因素来改变这一现状了。

It is high time that we enhanced people's awareness to rectify this by taking environmental protection into consideration.
