More and more interviews are being done via the Internet by way of your webcam(网络摄像头) and they are growing in popularity because they save employers both time and money. Yet, due to the unfamiliar aspects of interviewing virtually, these types of communications can be especially challenging for job-seekers. Here are some key tips that will help you prepare to present yourself at your best.

1. Make certain you are comfortable with the technology. Prepare and practice with an “interview friend” several times to find what you lack(缺乏) before your interview. You’ll want to become familiar with the various technical aspects of virtual interviews so that you can present yourself with confidence in the real interview.

2. Be sure your background is professional(专业的) and tidy. An untidy setting will give the impression that you’re disorganized and unprofessional. So be certain to have your computer set up in an area where the background is as businesslike as possible. Also, make sure that your selected area is free from any possible noise or interruptions.

3. Eye contact can be skillful. This requires practice because most people first focus on the activity being displayed on their own computer screens. It makes you look inattentive. You’ll need to train yourself to stare at the camera. It’s helpful to think of yourself as a television reporter and recognize that the camera represents your audience.

4. Watch your body language. Besides eye contact, there are some extra challenges to one’s body language. Be careful not to raise your shoulders or put your head down over your computer screen. Remember to keep your body open, and try to make your gestures as natural as possible. 21. The interviews via the Internet are popular because ________. A. they are fashionable and challenging. B. they save employers time and money. C. it is an easier way to find good employees. D. job-seekers can find a good job easily through it.

22. Practice interviewing with an “interview friend” can make you _________.

If You Make a Mistake, Don’t Worry!

Yeah, you’ll want to forget about them, but mistakes can be useful. Making a mistake doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. In real life you have to grow and mature(成熟), and with that comes some growing pains.

You know you should have studied hard but you went out with some friends instead. You know you should have put the money into the bank for a rainy day instead of spending it on all kinds of things you didn’t need.

It’s the growing pains called mistakes that most people make when they are growing up. Face them. You are going to make them. Learn from them. All of the people you wish to copy, such as all the experts in your business field, have made mistakes. They’ll continue to make mistakes for all their successes.

One of the major differences between people like them and the vast majority of others is that they don’t let their mistakes stop them. Instead, they use their mistakes as learning tools.

At the very least, when you make a mistake, you’ll know what not to do. And you can help others by warning them of the mistakes you’ve made. Don’t let mistakes stop you from doing anything. Learn from them, and don’t hide in a closet(衣橱). Face up to your mistakes now and you later will mature.

What mistakes are you making right now? Take a look at anything you might be doing wrong. Take a step back and evaluate(评估) your situation, and then fix whatever needs to be corrected. Then move forward.

Always remember your mistakes to remind yourself of what not to do for the future. 25. Why does the writer say mistakes can be useful? A. Because you can get some growing pains. B. Because experts also make mistakes.

C. Because you can mature by facing and learning from mistakes. D. Because next time you know that money shouldn’t be wasted. 26. Which statement is true according to the writer?

A. Before you make any mistake, you had better lock the closet in your room.

B. Keep your mistakes in mind in order not to make the same mistakes again in the future. C. Don’t go out with some of your friends any more. D. Forget your mistakes and move forward.
