摘 要
光纤通信是一种最新的通信技术,它以特有的原理传输信息,英籍华人高锟提出用光传输信号。人们进行光波导的研究,并且提出用玻璃代替铜线。光纤通信的发明大大造福了世界。现在人们追求超高速度、超大容量和超长距离传输,并且未来的光纤通信也朝着全光网络与塑料光纤发展。
光纤通信不仅可以应用在通信的主干线路中,还可以应用在电力通信控制系统中,进行工业监测、控制,而且在军事领域的用途也越来越为广泛。光纤通信技术作为信息技术的重要支撑平台,在未来信息社会中起到十分重要的作用。

Abstract
Optical fiber communication is a kind of new communication technologies, with a unique principle of transmission information, it is a british-chinese Charles kao light transmission signal is put forward. People in the study of optical waveguide, and put forward using glass instead of copper wire. The invention of the optical fiber communication has greatly benefited the world. Now people pursuit of ultra-high speed, large capacity and long distance transmission, and the future of optical fiber communication is toward all optical network and development of plastic optical fiber.
Optical fiber communication not only can be applied in the trunk lines of communication, can also be applied in electric power communication control systems, industrial monitoring, control, and in the military field is becoming more and more to a wide range of purposes. Optical fiber communication technology as the important support of information technology platform, plays an important role in the future information society.
