Sweet wormwood (ÇàÝï) is a common plant in China, ¢Ù it has the power to cure the deadly disease called malaria (ű¼²). Tu Youyou ¢Ú (be) the woman who uses the plant¡¯s special power to save millions of lives. The Chinese scientist won a Nobel Prize because of her great contribution.

On October 5, Tu was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. She shared the prize with two other scientists from the US and Japan. Tu is the first native Chinese person ¢Û (receive) a Nobel Prize in natural sciences.

Tu was modest about receiving the award:¡°It¡¯s a success for the whole research team.¡±She also thinks ¢Ü is scientists¡¯ duty to fight for the health of all humans.

When Tu joined the national research team to find the

medicine ¢Ý could fight against malaria in the 1960s and 1970s, things were hard. The team didn¡¯t have advanced equipment back then. Tu used to test ¢Þ (medicine) by eating them herself. Her teamsearched old Chinese medicine books ¢ß hand and tested over 2,000 traditional recipes.

Once Tu ¢à (return) home after traveling for six months. Her little daughter didn¡¯t recognize her and hid from the ¡°strange woman¡±. To do research,Tu also had to move around a lot.

Finally,Tu found (ÇàÝïËØ) in sweet wormwood in1971. She spent the next decades ¢á ( try) to improve themedicine. According to World Health Organization, about 200 million people suffer ¢â malaria around the world, and about half a million die each year. Artemisinin is still the most effective treatment against malaria known today.

Tu never complains about how hard she works. I feel more rewarded when I see so many cured patients, ¡±she said.

Students showed their fear and parents and teachers also ¢Ù (express) their great concern about it. Experts hope ¢Ú whole society pays more attention to the mental health of adolescents.

Nowadays, school violence is a hot issue. I think this is a phenomenon, which ¢Û (call) for our great concern. We should make every effort

¢Ü (prevent) school violence happening at school, for more and more students would drop out of school if their personal ¢Ý (safe) could not be guaranteed. In fact, violence can be learned.¢Þ (actual),children learn violence behavior from adults or from ¢ß they see on television or on the Internet.

If I meet with school violence, I will not answer violence with violence, for it will result in ¢à (much) fighting. I will tell my teachers or parents about it. I think they will help me deal with it well and they will protect me from the bad guys. All in all, we students should behave ¢á (we) and keep away ¢â violence.

Did you grow up in one culture, your parents came from another, and you are now living in a ¢Ù (total)different country? If so,then you are a third-culture kid.

The term¡°third¡ªculture kid¡± ¢Ú (use)in the 1960s for the first time by Dr.Ruth.She first came across this phenomenon

while¢Û (research)North American children living in India. In general,third-culture kids benefit from ¢Ü (they)intercultural experience and they often reach excellent academic results.

Yet many ¢Ý (difficulty)may arise from this

phenomenon.Third-culture kids may not be able to adapt themselves completely ¢Þ their new surroundings. Also, they often find it hard ¢ß (develop)new friendship.Additionally, for a third-culture kid,it is often easier to move to a new country ¢à to return to his homeland. For example, after living in Australia for many years,Louis finally

This is ¢Ù__________ teachers have heard students complain about most commonly. In such cases, we may tell the students such a fable(Ô¢ÑÔ): One night, a group of herdsmen were about to leave the

campsite ¢Ú__________there appeared a bunch of bright light . They knew that God would be there, so they looked forward to ¢Û__________( get) wishes from God. God began to speak: \night, you ¢Ü__________(be) very happy, but you can also be regretful.\Then God disappeared. The herdsmen were very ¢Ý__________( disappoint), because they did not expect that God had told them ¢Þ__________(do) all these meaningless things. However, in any case, after all, that was God's will, Although there was some dissatisfaction, they were still picking over some stones. ¢ß__________this way, they took a day. When night fell, they camped. All of a sudden, they found that all the

pebbles ¢à__________picked had turned into diamonds. They were delighted, but at the same time, they felt very sorry and ¢á__________(regret) that they did not collect more pebbles.

Now we feel that knowledge is useless, like pebbles, ¢â__________in the future, may become endless wealth. ¶þ¡¢¶ÌÎĸĴí
