Recently, some concerns have been raised about the health of the world's banana plants. A number of media reports have said that bananas may completely disappear. Some claim that this could happen in as little as ten years.
Bananas are one of the world's most important food crops. They are also the fourth most valuable export. Bananas do not grow from seeds. Instead, they grow from existing plants. Bananas are threatened by disease because all the plants on a farm are copies of each other. They all share the same genetic weaknesses.
For example, the Cavendish banana is most popular in American markets. It is an important export crop. However, some kinds of fungus organisms(有机体)easily infect the Cavendish. Black Sigatoka disease affects the leaves of Cavendish banana plants. The disease is controlled on large farms by putting chemicals on the plant's leaves. Farmers put anti-fungal(抗真菌的) chemicals on their crops up to once a week.
Another fungal disease is more serious. Panama disease attacks the roots of the banana plant. There is no chemical treatment for this disease. Infected plants must be destroyed. Panama disease has affected crops in Southeast Asia, Australia and South Africa. There is concern that it may spread to bananas grown in the Americas. This could threaten an important export product for Central and South America.
The International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain supports research on bananas. The group has headquarters in France and other offices in the major banana-growing areas of the world. The group says that more research must be done to develop improved kinds of bananas.
The group says that fungal diseases mainly affect only one kind of banana. In fact, there are five-hundred different kinds of bananas. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says the Cavendish banana represents only ten percent of
world production.
The UN agency says farmers should grow different kinds of bananas. This protects against diseases that affect only one kind. Experts warn that disease may cause the Cavendish banana to disappear. This has already happened to one popular banana because of its genetic weakness against disease.

阅读下面短文,根据所读内容在表格中的空白处填入恰当的单词。 注意:每个空格只填一个单词。
Customer service refers to the way that companies behave towards their customers. It's the quality of service that determines whether the customer remains with the company. However, many a time organizations don't focus on customer relationship management, and that's what makes customers angry, which is one of the reasons why companies lose their customers. So customer service is vital and you should know how to improve it.
First of all, you need to realize how important the customers are. It's they who are the boss, and it's because of them that you get your pay checks. So do take your customers seriously.
Finding out the needs of the customers is another important customer service tip. You need to ask the customers the right kind of questions and think of the possible solutions which you can provide.Understand how they feel according to a particular situation — their body language, tone of voice and words they speak. Never make assumptions and think that you know what the customers want.
Making customers feel they are important is an excellent way to serve them better. Treat customers as individuals and the best way to do that is using their first name
