①Tell a story to present new words.

Yesterday my friends invited me to a costume party.I dressed up like Father Christmas.I sang and dances and I gave gifts to my friends.I enjoyed myself very much.But then I didn't hold my cup of tea carefully.It dropped on the floor.The tea

splashed on my hands and get my pants wet.I was so embarrassed,and my face turned red.

②Read aloud the words in the frame.And put them in the correct columns in the chart.

③Students check their chart in pairs and the teacher asks some students to check the class.

2.Finish the task in 1b

①Ask the students to tell their partners something happened.Use the beginning in the box.Work in pairs.

②Ask some students to share their stories in class. 3.Finish the task in 1c

①Look at the pictures in 1c.Tell them these are about April Fool's Day.Guess their feelings.

②Play the recording for the first time.Students listen and write down the persons' names.

4.Finish the task in 1d

①Read the phrases in 1d and know what to do in the next step.

②Play the recording for the second time.Get the students to write D,N or J in 1d. ③Play the recording once more.Students repeat and check the answers in 1c and 1d.

5.Finish the task in 1e

①Read the conversation.Ask students to retell the April Fool's Day stories about the three.

②Students work in groups.

③Ask some students to retell the stories in class. ★Step 3 Homework

1.Tell an April Fool's Day story.

2.Write a few sentences about April Fool's Day. 3.Translate the following sentences into English.

In this period,we should get the students to do more practice in listening and speaking.So we can ask them to tell their stories,listen to others' stories and write about their unexpected things.They will improve their capacity of oral output in the listening and speaking activities.The teacher lets them learn new words and phrases when they were listening to the story.That was what they were interested in.And they may learn quickly and easily to remember the new words.
