3. Play Draw and Guess to review objects the students masteredin the previous levels such as computer, stove , refrigerator and TV . Key Concepts

1)Role –play with a telephone to demonstrate the new vocabulary. Ask for a volunteer to make the sound of the ringing phone when you signal. Then act out answering and hanging up the phone as you say phrases such as: This is a phone . The phone is ringing.

2) Ask for two volunteers to be phones. One phone stays with you . one phone picks a student for you to call. Lead a dialogue such as follows.

I am talking. What am I doing? I am talking. Now I am talking on the phone. What am I doing ? 3)Group work ( 小组合作)

Divide the students into many groups, make the dialogues with the new words :”talk on the phone , hang up the phone …”perform the dialogue in the front of the classroom. Then write the conversations on the exercise books. 2.Use the student book and audiotape.

Ask some questions to make srue the students understand themain idea of the story in the student book. Use as much English as possible. But allow the discussion to take place in Chinese where necessary. Use questions such as: Where is Danny?

Who does he talk to on the phone? Why does he run to his classroom? 3.Practice

1) Show the class how to act out being a phone. A studetn can pretend to be a phone by putting one arm over his or her head like a telephone receiver. To make the phonering, the studetn makes a ringing noise. To answer the phone, students pick up the phone’s arm and pretend to talk into it like a telephone receiver. To dial a number, studetns pretend topush buttoms on the phone’s forehead. . To hang up the phone, studetns replace the arm on the phone’s head.

2) Divide the class into groups of six. Ask each group to make up a dialogue about calling a friend. Why are they calling a friend?Encourage the students to phone when it rings. Encourage the students to use as many English idioms as possible. 4.Use the activity book
