Part B Role Play(角色扮演) A Christmas Gift It was a rainy and cold Christmas eve. Tom was having dinner near the comer in a small restaurant. The door slowly opened and Tom noticed an old woman enter. She was carrying a basket of flowers in her hands. She was in rags and looked very tired. Waling along slowly form table to table, she asked if anyone needed flowers for one dollar each. But all the customers were enjoying their dinner and no one bothered to buy any flowers from her. Feeling a bit disappointed, she walked to the corner and sat down at the empty table next to Tom. She felt in her pocket, but found only a few coins. So she ordered a bowl of soup. She looked at her flowers and said to herself, “Ah, I haven’t sold any flowers for the whole day!” On hearing this, Tom turned around and looked at her. He stood up and walked to her. “Merry Christmas, Madam!” He said, picking out two flowers and then handing the old woman a fifty-dollar note. “Two dollars, sir. But I don’t have enough change.” She said. “No, Madam.” Said Tom, “This is a Christmas gift for you!” 2
