Make a sentence out of each group of words. Use “while” to introduce information that contrasts with what is conveyed in the main clause. Make changes where necessary.

Make a sentence out of each group of words. Use “not only…but also…” in each sentence with an inversion structure. Change the verb tense where necessary

Model: learn another language, teach me, the value of hard work; it, give me insights into another culture

Not only did learning another language teach me the value of hard word, but it also gave me insights into another culture. 1. Mr.Smith, learn the Chinese language; he, bridge the gap between his culture and ours

Not only did Mr. Smith learn the Chinese language, but he also bridged the gap between his culture and ours.

Not only did we learn the technology through the online course,

Not only do the workers want a pay increase, but they also want reduced working hours.

5. the house, expensive; it, too far away from my company Not only is the house expensive, but it also is too far away from my company Unit 2

Combine each pair of the following sentences, using an “as” clause to introduce an action happening at the same time as another action

Model: Sandy sang along with the words. At the same time, she lay listening to her favorite radio station.

Sandy sang along with the words as she lay listening to her favorite radio station.
