三、课程简介
《英语阅读》是英语专业基础阶段教学的一门必修课,同时也是使学生大量接触英语读物和培养阅读能力的一门实践基础课。旨在通过一定量的阅读实践来提高学生的理解能力,在阅读速度、词汇量等指标上达到英语专业培养规定要求,并增加学生对语篇结构、语境和语用理论的感性认识,提高语言鉴赏能力。课程注重学生思维能力的培养,训练学生分析与综合、抽象与概括、多角度分析问题、以及批判性思维等多种思维能力,同时也注重培养学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性,注重培养一定跨文化交际能力。

阅读虽然是一门训练学生单向语言技能的实践课程,但它和旨在提高综合运用语言能力的专业基础《综合英语》课相符相成,也是其它单向语言技能课程在词汇、语法、理解和文化等方面的基础课程。
本课程适应于英语专业一年级学生。
四、课程目标
《英语阅读》课的目的在于培养学生的英语阅读能力和提高学生的阅读速度;向学生提供广泛的语言和文化素材,扩大学生的知识面,培养学生的阅读兴趣;注重培养学生快速有效获取信息的能力和把握文章中心思想的能力,提高略读、寻读、细读、评读等阅读能力;同时培养学生假设判断、分析归纳、推理检验等逻辑思维能力;帮助学生通过阅读实践以及掌握常见英语词根知识,扩大英语词汇量;增强语感,不断积累各种语言知识和文化素材。
