About five years ago, I thought I was coming down with the flu. I didn’t feel well and I’d been sweating a lot and feeling lethargic(无精打采). No big deal, I thought, but I might as well get it checked out, so even though I hate going, I went to see my doctor. He told me I had Type 2 diabetes(糖尿病).
Type 2 diabetes run in my family, but I never thought I’d be hit with it. Type 2 diabetes happens to someone else. It couldn’t happen to me. Except I did.
That day in the doctor’s office was a wake-up call to get my health together. First I changed the way I ate. No more chewing down as much as I wanted whenever I wanted. I started eating in a way I call my “Morsel Lifestyle,” just a little of this and a little of that. Then I began working out. I concentrated on weight training at the beginning and soon moved to aerobic conditioning(有氧调节).
Once I learned to control my diabetes I got back my energy and my life. I felt great! You have to start small. Make the same healthy choices every day so they become as routine(日常的) as brushing your teeth or washing your face. If you stick with it, you can change your life.
