China is a member of more than 1,000 international organization. It has moved from the 22nd largest trading nation to the 11th.It is projected to become 2nd largest trader, after the US,by 2020.Market reforms have spread more than two decades of unprecedented growth. The number of people live in poverty has dropped from 250 million to 58 million. Per capital income in cities has jumped 550% in just past decade as China has opened its economy, its people has enjoyed greater freedom of movement and choice of employment, better schools and housing. Today, most Chinese enjoy a higher standard of living than that any time of Chinese modern history.
Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems facing mankind today. Badly polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. Pollution of soil reduces the amount of land available for growing food. Environmental pollution also brings ugliness to man’s naturally beautiful world. The environmental condition to certain extant determines the prospect of economic development of an area. Benign environment and effective environmental protection measure is a crucial guarantee of sustainable development of economy.
The friendship between China and South Africa can be traced back to the sixth century. After the establishment of the formal diplomatic relationship between china and south Africa on January 1,1998, both governments have paid special attention to the bilateral trade cooperation and cultural exchanges. Many investment and cooperation projects have been rapidly set up in both countries. With the globalization of the world economy, the complementation of South Africa and china not only makes the
cooperation and exchanges between them possible, but also offers a definite historical choice.
Water pollution reduces the amount of pure, fresh water that is available for such necessities as drinking and cleaning, and for such activities as swimming and fishing. The pollutants that affect water come mainly from industries, farm, and sewerage systems. Industries dump millions of tons of waste products into bodies of water each year. These wastes include chemicals, wastes from animal and plant matter, and hundreds of other substances. Wastes from farms include animal wastes, fertilizers, and pesticides. Most of these materials drain off farm fields and into nearby bodies of water. Sewerage systems carry wastes from homes, offices, and industries into water.
Asia's export-driven growth over the past 30 years has drawn millions of women into the work force, making consumer goods for the world. The work lifted families out of poverty and gave women greater independence and opportunities. Now the global economic downturn means tens of thousands of women are losing their jobs, as slow demand forces factories making everything from clothes to electronics to shut down.China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia are some of the countries where exports account for a large proportion of national output. A slowdown in foreign investment and a decline in remittances from overseas workers worsen the poor economic climate for women workers.
