Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

As learning a foreign language is getting popular in recent years, some people intend to travel or work in a foreign country after mastering a certain foreign language, while others learn it for different purposes. I believe that a language is not only a bridge between people from different nations but also a container teeming with its culture and traditions.
It is quite understandable that a foreign language ensures people to travel or work in the right country without getting trouble in communication. A local language not only helps you to ask how to go to a certain place and how to do your job, but also brings you new friends and warm welcomes. The native language casts a glamour over a foreigner, as we all know that the ability of speaking the language in person is obviously more crucial than translating it through some technical device.
In addition to that, clearly a foreign language is more than a means of survival, for it is like a window that broadens people’s mind in local customs and cultural background. The internet allows people to reach information from every area around the world, and foreign languages enable us to share the excitement in music, art and innovated ideas through listening or reading oversea materials. foreign language, it is pretty uncertain that people can enjoy the great beauty of another culture.
In conclusion, I agree that learning another language is essential in traveling and working in a different country, but I tend to believe it is more likely to be a good way to meet the mental needs in cultural diversity.
