5. W: Hello! Alan. I’m so happy to see you. M: Hello, Jane. I’m happy to see you too. W: What do you do now?
M: I’m a teacher at a language school. What about you? W: Well, I’m a doctor.
M: Oh, great. Are you still interested in tennis? W: Yes, I am. And you? M: Me, too.
W: Well, let’s have a match together sometime! M: Sure. No problem.
6. W: Peter, what’s wrong? Why are you walking so slowly? M: Oh, it is nothing serious, Mum. It’s my right foot. It hurts. W: Nothing serious?
M: I think it’ll be better tomorrow. A good rest may work. W: Oh, Peter. What happened?
M: Well, I was playing basketball during break this afternoon. Suddenly a boy
knocked into me. We both fell and he fell on me. W: Oh dear! I think I’d better take you to the doctor now. M: All right, Mum.
7. M: Hi, Mary. How was your weekend?
W: Great. I went away for two days. I wanted to get out of town, so I went to a village by the sea.
M: Were there many tourists there? W: Not many. It was peaceful and quiet. M: So, where did you stay?
W: I booked into a small hotel. There is also a campground if you want a cheap holiday.
M: What did you do there?
W: Well, there are short trips to some places of interest. And, of course, you can also go swimming. But I spent my time walking in the fresh air. I really enjoyed that.
M: Did you do anything special there?
W: Yes. The most special thing I did was learning to dance on Saturday evening. 8. W: Are these photos of your family, Richard?
M: Yes. My mum’s side of the family all live in the USA. W: Where do they live? M: In New York.
W: Hey! I’ve got some cousins in New York, too.
M: Really? My grandmother, my aunt and uncle, and my three cousins, John, Bob and Lily live there. That’s Lily. She’s the youngest. She’s 25. W: Do you go and see the family a lot?

M: I usually go once a year if I can. But it’s a bit expensive to fly from Australia to the United States every year. W: Yeah, I think so.
M: And time is also a problem. I prefer to go for a month and make a real holiday of it.
W: You’re right. It’s not worth going all that way just for a week or two. So what do you think of New York? Do you like it?
M: Oh, I really like it. It’s great. It’s easy to get around and there are lots of good museums and theatres.
W: Yeah, I love it too. I often feel excited in New York. You’re making me miss it! 9. Welcome to Lockley House. It was built at the time of Queen Elizabeth the First at the end of the sixteenth century.
As you go up the stairs, you will see pictures of the people who owned the house through the centuries. At the top of the stairs, on the left, is the Gun Room with guns from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It is one of the finest collections in the country. You can buy a book about them in the gift shop.
The building next to the House was built as an indoor tennis court at first. But today it is an indoor swimming pool.
One Saturday a month, there are concerts in the hall. They are very popular, and some of the best players in the country give performances here.
After you visit the House, please take a walk round the wonderful gardens. The House closes at 5:00, but try to come back from the gardens before 4:30. And don’t forget to visit our gift shop before you leave. Enjoy your visit.
10. W: Hello, New Hope Book Company. This is Gina speaking. How can I help you? M: Hi, I’d like to place an order. W: OK, Sir. Can I take your name?
